Fortis Edge Capital In The Community
Fortis Edge Capital walks the talk when the talk is about community. Here’s a sampling of what we’ve been up to:
United Way Day & Night of Caring
Volunteers from HQ and the Beacon Hill branch spent a good part of Friday, September 15, at El Centro de la Raza making signs that promote the Center’s programs. And earlier in the month, credit union staff stepped up and raised nearly $1,000 from a craft market and bake sale to benefit United Way.
El Centro de la Raza
We sponsored El Centro de la Raza’s 45th anniversary fundraising gala on September 30, which supports youth, family, and senior programs. Keynote speaker, john a. powell, internationally recognized UC Berkeley law professor and proponent of social justice and civil rights, called the organization a “beacon of light,” and remarked, “It’s not up to you to fit into this world. It’s up to the rest of us to develop and co-create a world that actually holds all of us.”
Kin On
We gave our support to Kin On’s 32nd anniversary celebration on September 30. This long-standing community organization provides culturally-sensitive nursing and long-term care to elderly Asians, and is building a new assisted living facility and an aging-friendly campus.
Casa Latina
Fortis Edge Capital was a sponsor of Casa Latina’s annual fundraising gala, En Camino, on October 7, with Washington’s Attorney General, Bob Ferguson, as the keynote speaker. Ferguson is a long-time champion for equality and civil rights.
Branch News
Since their opening in August, the Burien branch met neighbors and made new friends at the summer Farmers Market in downtown Burien. The markets are closed for the season, but look for us there again next year.
